At EmailCheck.dev, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

For Paid API Users (With Account)

We do NOT store the emails you validate. When you use our API with an API key:

Account Information: Email address, name (if provided), company name (optional)
API Usage Metrics: Request count, API calls per month (for billing and rate limiting only)
Payment Information: Processed by Stripe; we only store your Stripe customer ID
Emails Validated: NOT STORED. Your validated emails are processed and immediately discarded

✅ Privacy Guarantee for Paid Users: We never log, store, or retain the email addresses you validate through our API. Your data is validated in real-time and forgotten immediately.

For Demo Users (No Account)

Our free demo endpoint has limited logging for abuse prevention only:

Anonymized IP Address: Hashed (cannot identify individuals), used for rate limiting
Email Tested: Stored temporarily for analytics
Validation Results: Validity status, confidence score, deliverability
Retention: Automatically deleted after 7 days

ℹ️ Demo Logging: Demo requests are logged anonymously for 7 days to prevent abuse and improve service quality. No personal information is collected. This logging does NOT apply to paid API usage.

2. How We Use Your Data

Paid API Users

Service Delivery: Process email validations, enforce rate limits
Billing: Track usage for accurate billing
Account Management: Communicate important updates, security alerts
Support: Respond to your questions and troubleshoot issues

Demo Users

Abuse Prevention: Detect and block excessive usage, spam, or malicious activity
Service Improvement: Analyze usage patterns to improve validation accuracy
Analytics: Understand demo usage trends (aggregated, not individual)

3. What We DON'T Do

❌ We do NOT track you across websites
❌ We do NOT build user profiles from validated emails

4. Data Retention

5. Third-Party Services

These services have their own privacy policies and only receive the minimum data necessary to provide their services.

6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of your data
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
Correction: Update incorrect information
Portability: Export your data in a standard format
Opt-Out: Stop receiving marketing emails (service emails still required)

Our service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. International Users

Our services are hosted in the United States. By using EmailCheck.dev, you consent to the transfer of your data to the US. We comply with GDPR for EU users.
